Jerez de la Frontera hosts 11th Spanish Oenological Research Congress
The Association of Oenological Research Groups (GIENOL), an organisation targeted at encouraging collaboration and information exchange within the field of vitiviniculture research, recently announced the 11th Spanish Oenological Research Congress; an event which will be held from 1st to 3rd June in the town of Jerez de la Frontera in Cadiz. The congress will unfold as part of the commemorative acts for the Spanish Constitution of 1812 and for the first time is to include Latin America within its research scope.
The aim of the eleventh edition of the Spanish Oenological Research Congress is to present the latest advances in vitiviniculture research to research groups made up of academics from around 19 Spanish universities and 8 public research facilities. In addition, as part of the congress, an analysis of Latin American vitiviniculture will be carried out as well as a focus on the study of technology transfer within the sector. Along the same lines, various R&D initiatives will also be presented such as the creation of businesses via research.
The three-day congress will include conferences, talks and round tables based on the latest advances in oenological research. By the same token, there will also be a series of presentations focusing on wine and food tastings as well as another series of external events such as visits to the region’s bodegas and business exhibitions.
The Association of Oenological Research Groups has been organising this biennial event since 1994 and among its most important responsibilities are actions such as encouraging working relationships between vitiviniculture sector research organisations, and staff exchange programmes among the various oenological research groups, in addition to boosting projects within its area of scope.
The registration deadline for the 11th Spanish Oenological Research Congress is 30th April. More information can be found on the Congress’ website
