Alella wine tour from Barcelona

Cava and wine between mountains and sea

Though comprising 17 towns the Alella D.O. is considered one of the smallest in Spain. At only 20 kilometres from Barcelona, and cradled between the mountains and the sea, it presents a lovely rural retreat for people hard-pressed for time.

We will depart from Barcelona at 10:00am to start our route. The area is known mainly for its white wine production which can range from oak aged sweet wine to cool fermented dry wines. The most characteristic grape in this region is the “Pansa Blanca”, very similar to the Xarel•lo. We will visit one of the wineries, with a one-hour guided visit and private tasting led by the house oenologist.

Afterwards we will take a short walk around Alella’s pre-modernist buildings, where Gaudí spent the summer on several occasions. The tour will be rounded off with a taster lunch in a selected restaurant in the Maresme area.
